Year 8 Artists have been creating modern masterpieces, based on the concept of negative space, using stencils and spray paint.
A useful technique for artists, who want to represent the scenes or objects that they observe, is to look at and draw the shapes created by the spaces in between objects. Mr Mike’s Year 8 artists have been experimenting with this technique to create some wonderful, modern works of art. After drawing from observation, students created stencils and layered colour using spray paint. Despite being a notoriously difficult process, the results are beautiful, reminiscent of contemporary artists Richard Hamilton and Banksy.
