Still Looking for the Right School Place This September?
The celebrations included two 'Igniting your Duende' workshops for students of Spanish in which they learnt about the connection and history of all Spanish speaking countries and some of the cultural aspects shared. Through music and arts the workshop included a making your own 'abanico' (fan) craft activity which was used to learn some of the most common rhythms in Hispanic culture and to practise some Flamenco. Close to 200 students learning Spanish as MFL in Key Stage 2 participated in those workshops.
Among the activities for the whole school campus, there were two Interactive Flamenco shows led by a professional Flamenco dancer who came to inspire our community with the spectacular Flamenco performances in different styles as well as making the audience excited by making them stand up and practise the basic moves.
Here are some facts about Spanish Language:

Ms Cynthia - Head of Primary Languages
St Andrews Primary School celebrated on Friday the first Spanish Language Day, for the occasion of the UN Spanish Language Day which is celebrated internationally to honour the 21 countries where it is the official language.
At St Andrews, safeguarding means ensuring every student feels safe, supported, and protected. Staff and students regularly take part in fire drills, evacuation exercises, and safety routines to stay confident and prepared for any situation. With certified training in first aid and emergency response, our staff are equipped to act quickly and calmly when it matters most. Students remain at the heart of every safety measure, and we’re proud to maintain a secure, well-prepared school environment—audited and supported by both local and international partners.
At St Andrews, the role of Head of Year is vital in supporting both the academic progress and personal development of every student. In Primary School, the Head of Year (or Year Leader) plays a key role in leading academic and pastoral support by ensuring consistent curriculum delivery, fostering student well-being, and creating a safe, engaging environment. While in High School, the Head of Year shifts focus to mainly pastoral care by overseeing student well-being, monitoring attendance, liaising with families, and offering early interventions to help students navigate adolescence and achieve their full potential.
