Happy memories

06 一月 2014

It has been a wonderful term. From the opening of our new buildings back in August, through to all the fabulous end of term events, there have been numerous special memories to take into the holidays.

To recall just a few highlights:

  • International Week, and particularly the International Food Fair and the inspiring Parade of Nations
  • The Big Draw – over 1,000 students working together to produce a single piece of Art
  • The Welcome Picnic and Christmas Bazaar organised by our amazing Community Group
  • Fantastic Learning Logs from Infants and Juniors
  • The Best of Broadway Show
  • The Early Years Christmas Production
  • The Infants Christmas Production
  • Successful sports teams, improving in skill, effort and participation
  • So many Service activities with students working to support others, both within our community and for projects elsewhere in China and internationally
  • Our visiting Antarctic explorer, Henry Evans
  • World Poverty Day in which the students learnt how others less fortunate live their lives
  • Dress-up days, theme days, trips and visits…. all those special activities which students will remember for a long time to come
  • The Jiao Mile House Event - students of all ages working together to raise money for our charities
  • Activity Week, with our students visiting different places across China and supporting the local communities
  • Over 30 visits from different Universities offering talks and advice for our Senior students
  • Weekly assemblies and performances showcasing talent right across the school
  • … and of course, the lessons every day where great things happen and where great progress is made, but which we don’t always get to see!

On this last day of term I see hundreds of smiling faces: students looking forward to their holiday, but also happy and enjoying their school. It is another of those very special days in the life of a teacher. One final piece of news to share with everyone. I am very pleased to announce that our Operations team have worked particularly hard in the last week sourcing air purifiers, and our team of handymen have worked late into the evening installing them. We now have 10 purifiers already in place in Junior School classrooms and work on further rooms will continue in the coming weeks. With thanks to all families for their support throughout this term. Wishing you all a peaceful holiday and we look forward to seeing everyone on January 7th 2014 for the new term.
