Auskick Kicks Off International Week

As part of International Week, Auskick have set up base at the British International School Shanghai, Pudong, coming in to provide an introduction to Australian Rules Football.

Students from Year 1 through to Year 7 will have the opportunity over the week to learn about the sport from members of the Shanghai Tigers Australian Rules Football team, including former professional Australian Football League (AFL) player, Shannon Watt, who these days calls Shanghai home.

The programme is aimed at U5’s – U13’s and includes hands-on instructions in kicking and hand balling, skills Auskick coach Mark Mayne says our students have taken to the sport with great enthusiasm. He comments, "The students have really impressed us with their interest and enthusiasm. They've had lots of questions for us and have shown a genuine interest in the game." Having worked with some of the Year 7 girls during the day, he adds, "Some of those girls can kick!"

Today saw students from Year 7, Year 1 and Year 4 out on the field learning all about Australia's national football code, renowned for the athleticism, speed and jumping skills of the players.
