All Round Excellence

I would like to write this week about two very different examples of what has taken place at our school in the last week. These two contrasting elements serve to underline the all-round education that is part of attending a school like ours.

Firstly, I would like to commend our Senior students and particularly the Year 13 students who are really focusing on the build up to their IB examinations. You will recall I wrote previously about our commendation from the International Baccalaureate Organisation for being in the top 5% of schools in the world for IB Diploma. I am therefore delighted that our current forecasts suggest that this particular year group is on track to achieve record-breaking results for the school. The sustained effort that students put in across this demanding course is leading to tremendous success and is a credit to every single one of them.

Linked to this is some very encouraging feedback I receive from teachers who want to work at our school. I will write later in the year about new colleagues who will be joining us, but it has been particularly pleasing knowing that the success of our IB programme is widely known and experienced IB teachers wish to be part of this. Working with us next year will be colleagues who have held significant roles in other schools leading on the IB Diploma and this will help our team reach even greater heights.

The second aspect of school from this week that I would like to mention is the Middle School production of Annie. This was an absolute joy for every person who attended the show. It is fantastic to see such opportunities created for students and then to witness them grasp these opportunities with such skill and dedication makes us all so proud. The standard of acting and singing from students of this age was astounding, and we now look forward to the Junior School production of Bugsy next term which I am sure will be equally impressive.

Making the most of school means achieving outstanding academic outcomes and also participating and gaining from all the other activities on offer. It is truly wonderful to see so many of our students achieving so highly across all areas of their education.
