The ACE team, comprised Anna Lamieri, Gabriel Cheung, Georgio Wu, Holly Worrell, Jennifer Thornton, Jenny Nayeong Lee and Leila Mansour, impressed the judges with their smart watch idea. Judges commented that the team had developed an effective business plan, used excellent presentations skills to communicate their idea and shown strong team work.
Their reward? The winning team was treated to a surprise day of luxury courtesy of the Holiday Inn Kangqiao, and an insightful address by the hotel’s General Manager, Paul Proctor. The day included a delicious buffet breakfast, followed by the GM’s address, a tour of the hotel and, to top it all off, a dip in the hotel pool, voted one of the World’s Top 10 pools.
Although they did not win the prize, other groups also came up with innovative and well-developed business ideas including an intelligent home system (AVA), an app that helps with the management of your wardrobe and online shopping (Style-ish), a laser goal for sports enthusiasts (Goal-a-gram), eating utensils for children that sensed harmful bacteria and heat (Yummy Yum), a retractable socket system (Plug - IT) and trainers/sports shoes that had changeable sole (Switch-O).
