Juilliard Music Curriculum Specialist Visit

We are delighted to introduce you to Ms Andrea Lee, The Juilliard School music curriculum specialist, who has been appointed to work with NAIS Pudong on embedding the Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts programme in the music curriculum.  Over the next year Ms Lee will be visiting us a number of times to implement and review the programme.

Ms Lee’s first visit to Shanghai will be on 26 and 27 October, during which we will have a chance to see her perform during a Spotlight on Music evening, to be held on 26 October.  Ms Lee will also work with students and our music team during the day.

As a cellist from New York, Ms Lee has been highly praised for her work as both a performer and a teacher in New York.

Highlights of her recent performances include Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire in Kumho Art Hall in Seoul, Korea, Gabriel Kahane’s The Ambassador at the UCLA Freud Playhouse, and tours with The Knights, East Coast Chamber Orchestra, yMusic, and A Far Cry. Andrea is the cellist of the indie-classical band Build and has participated in festivals in the U.S. and Europe, including Taos School of Music, Spoleto Festival USA, IMS Prussia Cove, Holland Music Sessions, and Banff.

Her love for chamber music has led her to work closely with members of the Tokyo, Takacs, Guarneri, Borromeo, Cleveland, and Brentano Quartets, as well as collaborate in performance with members of the Borromeo, Jupiter, and Miami Quartets.

As a devoted teacher, Ms. Lee brings her enthusiasm for music education to her new role as Music Curriculum Specialist for Juilliard Global Ventures. She serves on the faculty of the Chamber Music Conference of the East at Bennington College and was a Teaching Artist with the New York Philharmonic Schools Program for several years. She holds a BA in history with distinction from Yale University, whereupon graduating, she received the Bach Society Prize and the T. Whitney Blake Memorial Prize. She went on to earn graduate degrees in cello performance from New England Conservatory and Mannes College.

We can’t wait to work with Andrea here at NAIS Pudong, and see how she inspires a love of music in our students.
