There was a good deal of excitement as children entered the building to find Santa riding his sleigh and ready to take that all-important Christmas photo. Mr Daffyd Thomas and Mr Andrew Groark were our official Santa portrait photographers on the day, capturing many beautiful images of not only children with Santa, but also plenty of grown-ups as well. More than 1,800RMB in donations for the photos went to Baobei to support the ongoing medical treatment for orphaned baby Elsa.

The school choirs, led by Mr and Mrs Bailey, were tuned to perfection, and looked wonderful as they massed on the stairs for their performances. Guest brass players joined in with the Community Choir for “In the Bleak Midwinter” and played some Christmas favourites between the carol performances as well.

Our B Block sports hall and corridors were also jam packed with activities and vendors with every array of gifts and goodies to suit all tastes. A small army of Year 12 students took the opportunity to sell a range of sweets, plus Tanzanian coffee, as part of their fundraising for their upcoming trip to Tanzania.

While the rather unpredictable weather meant our “Eat Street” was moved indoors, there was plenty of delicious and warming food to keep everyone satisfied.

The day wound up with the drawing of the huge Christmas raffle, including the raffle baskets which were put together by our Primary year groups. Congratulations to all the winners, including Ms Jane Kilpatrick who won the major prize of a luxury two-night stay at Pavilions Resort in Koh Samui.

A huge thank you to our Community Group Christmas committee volunteers, led by Heike Springmann, who spent the past months ensuring every detail was perfect for this much loved event.
