Wednesday 28 of October the Dutch School (De Oranje Draak ) visited the King of the Netherlands. This had been a great pleasure, because most people had never met the King before.
In the early morning we went on the bus, which was really fun and we practised a song we had to perform for King Willem-Alexander. When we arrived at Chong Ming Island, we put our bags on the grass and we had a snack and had some playtime with all the Dutch children from all De Oranje Draak locations.
When the King was ready, we went on a path leading to the square where all important people gathered around. We started singing a song and after a while he arrived with lots of important people around him. He got pretty flowers from two students from the Dutch school and started dancing with us. We couldn't speak with him but it was so special meeting him. I will never forget that I met the King.
When he went back inside the building we left to eat lunch together and we chatted and were so excited we saw him laughing and dancing. Then we went back on the bus and we drove back to Shanghai. A week later we heard from people in Holland that they saw us on the news. How special!
