We are holding an evening on Thursday 14th May 7-8.30pm, to celebrate all things languages, and to look to the future together and explore our plans for making language-learning even better. There will be the opportunity to meet your child’s language teacher, and to be inspired by talking with some of the stellar linguists among our student population. You may have the chance, for example, to chat with Emiliano who is making great strides in IB Diploma Spanish, or with Georgie who’s gone from zero to level 5 in Year 9 German.
There will be some short student performances in French, German and Spanish where they’ll showcase the progress they’ve made this year. Miss Ford and Mrs Wallace will highlight some of the recent developments in our school’s language provision, and will look to the future and all the possibilities that are open to us. Finally, a good part of the evening will be a very informal discussion with Mrs Wallace, Miss Ford and the Languages Faculty members – and of course with the students – where we’d love to hear your views about what we do well, and what you’d like to see us doing even better next year.
If you belong to one of our European language native-speaker communities, we’d love you to be part of this event. We’re especially keen to hear from those of you who’ve expressed an interest in starting an after-school Language School, and we’ll talk to you about our role in facilitating such arrangements. Plus, it will be a great opportunity for you to meet with your fellow countrymen at BISS Pudong, and to tell us the needs and hopes of your particular community.
And all of that over some great European-style food and wine, provided by some local continental guest caterers. Exciting!
