In English this week, linked to our current topic, the children will investigate different historical locations. They will write descriptions about the different locations and create a class information book.

During Phonics lessons, the children will apply phonic knowledge and skills to decode and read words. They will read accurately by blending sounds in unfamiliar words identifying different graphemes and phonemes.

The children will continue to practice forming and orientating upper and lower case letters correctly.

In Mathematics, we will begin to investigate and explore British money. The children will identify coins and their values and complete word problems involving addition and subtraction.

The children will explore and use language relating to dates, weeks and months. They will explore and interpret information gathered from a calendar and use these skills to solve problems.

The Personal Learning Goal we will be focusing on this week is 'Communication'.

The children will work on developing their communication skills during group activities and partner work.

As 'Geographers' the children will develop their geographical vocabulary. They will make comparisons between hot and cold climates and use this information to help them make their own weather report. Using iPads the children will film their weather report and evaluate each others work by giving feedback to each other.

This unit will continue to be explored through the eyes of the characters from 'The Snail and the Whale.'
