In English this week, the children will be looking at holidays in the past and comparing them with their own holiday experiences. They will prepare a list of questions they would like to find out about holidays in the past. The children will interview a parent/grandparent who will share their holiday stories. The children will use this information to write a report about holidays in the past.

During Phonics lessons, the children will apply phonic knowledge and skills to decode and read words. They will read accurately by blending sounds in unfamiliar words identifying different graphemes and phonemes.

The children will continue to practice forming and orientating upper and lower case letters correctly.

In Mathematics, we will continue to explore and use language relating to dates, weeks and months. The children will use this knowledge to help plan monthly or daily events.

They will use a number line to practice adding and subtracting numbers. The week will culminate with word problems related to both topics.

The children will continue to practice counting in multiples of 2, 5 and 10.

The Personal Goal we will be focusing on this week is 'enquiry' skills.

As 'geographers' and 'historians' the children will continue to develop their geographical vocabulary as they explore their current surroundings. They will look at historical locations around the world and use geographical vocabulary to describe differences and similarities. The children will use maps, atlases, pictures and the internet to find out information.

As 'artists' the children will explore using powder paints to create their own landscape pictures. Attention will be paid to creating different textures, patterns and colours.
