In English this week, the children will receive a letter from the Snail and the Whale. They will explain that they will be visiting Shanghai and would like some advice on where to stay and activities to do whilst here. The children will write letters to give the characters some advice.

During Phonics lessons, the children will apply phonic knowledge and skills to decode and read words. They will read accurately by blending sounds in unfamiliar words identifying different graphemes and phonemes.

The children will continue to practice forming and orientating upper and lower case letters correctly.

In Mathematics, we will be exploring the place value of numbers and use this information to help add, subtract and multiply numbers. The children will record their work using concrete objects, pictorial representations and arrays. The children will be encouraged to explain their work and thought process.

The children will work on ordering numbers in and out of sequence, as well as identifying numbers that are in between.

The Personal Goal we will be focusing on this week is 'adaptability.'

As 'Historians' the children will continue to look at historical landmarks around the world. They will make comparisons between the past and the present by looking at old photographs and footage. The children will investigate landmarks in and around Shanghai.

As 'Geographers' the children will explore man-made and natural geographical features. They will make comparisons to help evaluate the impact both have on our daily lives.

The children will use the information collected to make their own fact files.
