Next week is Book Week which has a science-fiction theme this year. Please see below for information regarding the week ahead.

Monday 14th March - Dress-up and parade – 9am, primary playground

Monday 14th March – Coffee Morning – Getting the most from our Learning Centre – 9.30am, Sports Hall A

Monday 14th March to Wednesday 16th March – Shanghai Book Traders (please send money for the sale in a clearly labelled envelope)

Thursday 17th March – Space Lecture – 6.30pm

Friday 18th March – Book Swap

Friday 18th March – Final day of CCAs for the spring term

Monday 21st March to 25th March - International Week

Wednesday 23rd March – Parade of Nations and International Food Fair

Thursday 24th March – An evening of international music – 7pm

Throughout this week we will be reading and completing activities based on The Man on the Moon by Simon Bartram. This fits in with our Book Week theme of space and science-fiction.

Our learning objectives covered will include:

  • To use capital letters, full stops and question marks
  • To use commas in a list
  • To use the present and past tense correctly
  • To use conjunctions to extend our sentences
  • To develop positive attitudes for writing
  • To develop stamina for writing


This week in maths our focus will be multiplication and division.

Our learning objectives covered will include:

  • To recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 2, 5 and 10 tables
  • To calculate mathematical statements for multiplication and division
  • Solve problems involving multiplication and division, using materials, arrays, repeated addition and mental methods


We will continue our topic ‘People Of The Past’, this week linking our topic to our Book Week theme and having more of a science focus.

Our learning objectives covered will include:

  • To identify differences between their own lives and those of people who lived in the past
  • To find out aspects of the past from a range of sources
  • To find out about a famous scientist - Edward Jenner
