An overview of the week ahead in Year 1.

Information and Reminders

Thank you to all parents for your support with the Book Week costumes. The children looked fabulous and we have had a lovely week celebrating the joys of reading.

Next week is International Week. If you have not contacted your child's class teacher to confirm which country your child will represent in the parade, please get in touch with them.

International Week

In English this week, the children will be creating their own spring poems. They will read a variety of poems and practise reciting them for an audience. The children will use their five senses to write their own poems.


In Mathematics this week, the children will recognise, find and name a half as one of two equal parts of an object, shape or quantity. They will use pictorial images and other practical equipment to represent their work.

The Personal Goal we will be focusing on this week is 'World Citizens'.

Topic this week will be focused around International Week. Each Year 1 class will study a different country. The children will complete a carousel of activities based on the various countries we are learning about.

They will complete a Japanese art activity, participate in a mini-Mongolian Olympics event and cook some Cambodian food.
