Transition Coffee Mornings – Wednesday 11th May

For our upcoming Coffee Mornings, we are going to focus on those year groups that will be making the transition to a different Key Stage, which can often mean a change to schedules and sometimes different expectations. There will be three transitions that we will look at, and therefore we will hold three separate Coffee Mornings to focus on these:

Reception moving into Year 1 (Early Years to KS1, Infants) – 8.50am to 9.50am - Hive

Year 2 moving into Year 3 (KS1, Infants to KS2, Juniors) – 10am to 11am - Hive

Year 6 moving into Year 7 (KS2, Juniors to KS3, Secondary School) – 11.05am to 12.05pm - Hive

Year 2 and Year 6 SATs Information - Wednesday 11th May

At our last Coffee Morning (13th April) we provided parents with an overview of the upcoming Year 2 and Year 6 SATs (Standard Attainment Tests). These will take place at the end of May/beginning of June. Further information is being sent home to Year 2 and Year 6 parents regarding these, but there will also be an opportunity for parents to ask any questions regarding the tests at our next Coffee Mornings.

Year 2 SATs information – during the transition coffee morning, 10am to 11am - Hive

Year 6 SATs information – following the transition coffee mornng, 12.10pm to 1.10pm - Hive

Please note that there will be IB examinations taking place at the same time as the Coffee Mornings on Wednesday 11th May. We will therefore be moving the refreshments inside of the Hive to ensure the students are not disturbed. Please could we also ask parents who arrive early to wait in the coffee shop prior to the Coffee Mornings, again to limit any disruption to the exams taking place.

At each Coffee Morning we will have teachers representing both the current year group and the year group the children will be moving into, for example Mrs Keenan from Reception and Mrs Finan from Year 1. This will ensure that you receive the most accurate information as to what you can expect when your child moves into the next year group and key stage. Similarly, we will have members of staff from our secondary team at the Year 6 to Year 7 meeting, who can answer any questions you may have regarding the move from primary to secondary school.

Whilst these Coffee Mornings will be focused on these specific year groups, parents from other year groups are welcome to attend if they wish, although we will not be discussing other year groups in as much detail.
