FOBISIA – Medals Galore
Students in Year 7 and 8 returned from the U13 FOBISIA Games in Hong Kong. The girls and boys travelled to Kellet School HK, where they took part in the biggest and longest-running international school sport tournament; FOBISIA. Teams from Shanghai, Beijing, Taiwan, Vietnam and Hong Kong competed in Swimming, Athletics, Football and Basketball. The Students won a record-breaking amount of medals – 27 in Athletics, 9 in Swimming and Boys silver and Girls bronze in the Football competition. This made it the most successful NAIS FOBISIA competition to date! A huge well done to all students involved. Our own Year 8 made the school proud with how they conducted themselves on and off the pitch! Check out the link below to see the report on who won what:
The Global Challenge – William Shakespeare
To celebrate the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, in 2016 Nord Anglia is challenging its students from around the world to read, memorise, practice and recite a famous speech from one of Shakespeare’s plays.
Students will then create a short single-take video of their performance, which will be uploaded to the Global Campus to be shared with other students around the world and entered into a competition across the family of schools, and judged by Shakespearean experts. There are two different categories for the competition, with details to be found on the Global Campus, and we cannot wait to see some of your performances! Good luck everyone!

Go Iwabuchi 8C for DT
In DT, we have been making some jewelry out of metal. We drew the outline of the jewelry onto a piece of MDF, cut it out and smoothed it down using sandpaper in order to get it ready to mould. We are going to join it onto two other pieces of MDF so that we can then mould our jewelry.
Natasha Niggli 8C for Mandarin
This year in Mandarin so far, we have leant about body parts, school timetables, places and food. We are currently revising what we have learnt so far in creative ways such as playing games and making presentations. This week, we walked around the school and learnt how to say the names of different places in Mandarin. Inside the classroom, we wrote sentences describing the location of the school buildings and rooms.
Seongwoo Jang 8C for Music
In Music lesson, we were learning about how to design the stave and play what we composed. We used the computer, then we put a key for the starting of the stave, and we put more notes in flute, violin, cello and others. We also learnt about some basic notes, rules and blues songs, too. For blues songs, we learnt how they are made, where they are made and the meaning of blues songs.
Yukiko Jauffret 8C for Science
In Science we learnt about space. It was awesome; our teacher told us a very easy method to learn the order of the planets. The method is My Very Easy Method Just Speeds Up Naming Planets - Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto. We also learnt about the distance between the sun and all the planet. It was fun learning about phases of the moon and comets too. We did an experiment to see if the height of the meteorite would affect the size of the crater. On Saturday we had a space work shop at school. We learnt how far the ISS is from Earth. At last, my favourite event at the workshop was building our own rockets and launching them and also making rocket fuels.
Robin Lutz 8C for English
In English we are learning about Gothic stories and how to make a paragraph. In the Gothic story part we are learning to make a good horror story. We learnt when to make a new paragraph whenever a new person speaks, a new topic is being discussed or when we change the time we are talking about.
