In English we will continue with our work on The Three Little Pigs as well as introducing a new book, Sky Dancers by Connie Ann Kirk.

Our reading target is to become increasingly familiar with and re-telling a wider range of stories, fairy stories and traditional tales.

In writing we will focus on:

  • Developing a positive attitude and stamina for writing
  • Using a range of punctuation
  • Using subordination and co-ordination

This week in Maths we will revisit the topic of Measures with a focus on length.

Our learning objectives covered will include:

  • Choosing and using appropriate standards of units to estimate and measure
  • Selecting and measuring an item using different units including mm, cm, m
  • Solving problems comparing measures of length

We will introduce our new topic, Buildings. There are structures around us all the time, some we barely notice. What are they made from? What is their purpose? What do you notice about their shape? What can be done to make them stronger?

Through this unit the children will become builders and discover secrets to holding up bridges and skyscrapers.
