We have had a really successful week in English. The children have been learning to comprehend text and structure their responses. We will continue with this into next week giving children the opportunity to embed and apply their comprehension skills. The children are thoroughly enjoying Kensuke’s Kingdom and will continue to work around this text. Children will practice SPAG skills, comprehension skills, reading and drama. We will also incorporate a Big Write into the children’s learning next week in order to support and develop their many writing objectives.

Next week in Maths, children will be revising and consolidating different units of work depending on their group’s needs. Throughout the year, all children will have been focusing on reasoning. Children will revisit calculation, fractions, decimals, shape and word problems using reasoning methods to fully decode and respond to questions.

Next week, children will continue to research their famous character in preparation for our Night At The Museum event. We will also be beginning our new Topic unit, Olympics. In due course, you will receive a letter regarding this topic which will outline the different subjects and skills children will learn. This is a fun and active unit of work which will enable the children to do some extra sports as well as learn the history of the Olympics and the creative thought behind the Olympic rings.
