Year 1 Week Ahead Information

An overview of the week ahead for Year 1.

Information and Reminders

All library book should have been returned, if you have lost or misplaced a book the fee to replace it will be 100rmb.

You should have received a letter about the class parties, please liaise with your child’s class rep about food contributions. The children may bring clothes to get changed into for the parties.

If your child will be leaving school before the last day on Friday please could you inform your child’s class teacher.

Primary Year in Review Assembly – Wednesday 22nd June; 9.00am to 11.00am

Primary End of Year Parties – Wednesday 22nd June; afternoon

Last day of school – Friday 24th June; midday finish

There will be no swimming lessons this week. Please send your child in with their PE clothes. If you child has a PE lesson on Friday they will not require PE clothes as they will spend their final morning with their class teacher.


In English this week, the children will review their year. They will write a recount about their experiences and try to include different punctuation features, adjectives, conjunctions and time connectives. The children will self-assess their work and look at and identify how their writing has improved over the last year.

In Mathematics this week, the children will continue reading and recording the time to the hour, half past, quarter past and quarter to. They will use their enquiry skills to solve word time problems.

During the oral, mental starters there will be a recap of 2d and 3d Shapes and fractions of shapes and some numbers.

The Personal Goal we will be focusing on this week is ‘communication’

As ‘Artists’ The children will finish painting their landscape image of the alien skyline/scenery, adding their imaginary worlds they created to the sketch.

As ‘Geographers' and ‘Scientists’ they will begin to investigate recycling. The children will explore and sort rubbish, discussing different materials and their properties.
