Children are continuing with the book Kensuke’s Kingdom. This has been a wonderful opportunity for the children to read some beautifully-articulated emotive and descriptive language. Next week, the children will continue to explore their own use of language as they rewrite certain parts of the text based on their predictions of what will happen next. We will also explore the characters of Kensuke and Michael in more depth by hot seating and acting out different scenes.

Next week in Maths we will continue to work around the theme of Euro 2016. Children will use reasoning to solve problems involving measure, money and averages. The children will also have the chance to make maths challenge cards for their friends to complete and to create other maths games to support and improve both their own and their friends' learning.

Next week, we will be using Topic lessons to support children in the writing, editing and improving of their Night at the Museum monologues. Children will learn their monologues by heart and also design information posters about the historical figure they have chosen to be. We will also continue with our topic of the Olympics, develop our research and understand the history of the Olympics.

In addition to these subject lessons, we will also spend time as a class next week reflecting and reviewing the year. Children will be able to make iMovies summarising their favourite moments and we will work in Guidance on the transition and move onto the next chapter of the children’s school lives.
