In English this week, the children will read the story 'The Tin Forest.' The story will give them more clues about the alien invasion last week and what role they will play in solving the mystery!

This week’s focus will be to explore descriptive language. The children will re-tell and re-write the story, changing the end of the story to include their own ideas. They will be encouraged to apply and include the following; a range of punctuation features, conjunctions and suffixes.

The Mathematics skill we will be concentrating on this week is place value. The children will use practical equipment to help them identify the place value of hundreds, tens and units. They will be encouraged to partition the number before adding two three-digit numbers together.

During the oral, mental starters there will be a recap of the 3-times tables, identifying doubles and halves of shapes and revisiting reading the time.

The Personal Goal we will be focusing on this week is 'communication.'

The children will receive some CCTV images from around the school, this will indicate that something peculiar happened over the weekend. The children will explore and investigate the different areas to find more clues.

As 'Geographers' they will identify and label the different parts of a tree.

As 'Artists' they will create their own tin forest pictures using the story as their stimulus.
