Message from Secondary

30 九月 2016

We can’t believe that we have reached the end of our first half term already! It has been a whirlwind six weeks culminating in a fantastic celebration of Internationalism this week, with the annual Parade of Nations and Food Fair and International Quiz along with some inspiring musical and dance performances. Our International Student Leaders really have done an impressive job at organizing the week and it has been great to see them lead the younger students who have been newly elected to this committee.

As if all the organizing for International Week wasn’t enough, this week we also facilitated a call with a member of the Nord Anglia team based in our Hong Kong office who is responsible for collecting data and organizing surveys across the company. Our International Student Leaders Sammi and I-Zac are working on co-developing a student survey on Internationalism that will eventually be rolled out to all of the 34,000 Nord Anglia students across 15 countries through our Global Campus Online. This is a huge piece of work and we are delighted that Sammi and I-Zac are leading on this for all of the students across our family of schools!

Other activities that students can get involved with in the Global Campus Online include the recently launched Global Library and annual Creative Writing Competition. Students can log on to the Global Campus website to read more about these activities and they will certainly be hearing more about them from their teachers when they return from the half term break.

Furthermore, NAIS Pudong recognises the value of interdisciplinary learning and we are working on developing our opportunities within the STEAM realm (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths). We are excitedly planning some cross-curricula learning opportunities where students can merge what they might traditionally think of as subjects to collaboratively create some unique pieces of work. We look forward to sharing more soon!

Ahead of the half term, we would like to take this opportunity to remind you that we are a nut-free school and that students should not bring any foods containing nuts into school with them. We do have some students with serious nut allergies and recently there have been incidents where nuts are present during break and lunch times. We appreciate your support with this.

Thank you for a wonderful first half term and we wish you a relaxing break next week. We look forward to seeing you when we return to school for the upcoming Academic Review Evenings.

Best wishes,

Therese Andrews and Carol Camargo
