Year 8 Assessment Term 2 Cycle

Term 2 Assessment Cycle is underway. Subject teachers will be outlining to the students what their assessments will be based around and what they need to revise.

Lesson Updates

Daniella 8A for Maths

In Maths we have been revising for the upcoming assessment cycles. We are going through chapters 7, 8 and 9. This is helping us because we are having exams soon. These topics include, fractions, expanding brackets and more. I am confident for the test and excited to show my mathematical skills in the upcoming assessment.

Temoso 8A for History

In History we have been learning about the slave trade and how people are judged based on their race. This was really heart breaking because of the pain and suffering they had to go through. There was a saying of one of the slave survivors who said “Kill or be killed” which shows the guilt and agony of what was happening.

Siyun 8A for French

Recently our class has learnt about what do we need to do if we go to Paris. We learnt about how to say where we went or not. For example "J'ai visité l'Arc de Triomphe" which means “I visited the  Arc de Triomphe.” We have also learnt about how to ask the questions about them. For example, "Tu as visité la tour Eiffel?" which means “Have you been to the Eiffel Tower?”

Ellen 8B for Drama

On February 6th, we learned about gulling. We choose a team and We had to make a story our self ( as a team ) about gulling. Also We had to act all about what We have done and what We have learn. We had to act 2 minutes. My team were good however, We used too much blocking. Mr. Bradshaw said We have to face at audience and trying to not use blocking you act.

Aryan 8A for Geography

In Geography we are learning about population. We have learnt things like the one child policy in China, the carrots and sticks, etc. We have learnt that the policy started in 1979 and ended in 2000. During this time Chinese people were allowed to have only one baby, if they had another one they would be taxed.

Daniel 8A for English

In English we recently learned about Edgar Allen Poe who was an author that wrote books and also poems. First we learned  about the poem "The Raven" which is about a man who recently lost the woman he loved, but then a raven flies in through his window. The man asks the Raven questions but the Raven only replies with "Nevermore". It was very interesting to cover this poem.

Ciara 8A for PE

In PE we just started Volleyball, before that we did fitness and we did a circuit with cardio, leg, and abs workouts in 25mins. However the FOBISA team was out on the field doing athletics. we have done a range of athletics events to get us ready for the competition this coming Wednesday. In Volleyball we did basic shots such as digs and sets.
