Message from Primary

The opportunity to perform is a big part of the Primary experience for all students and we saw our Year 5 and 6 children do just this on Tuesday and Wednesday.

They acted, sang and danced their hearts out in front of families and their peers, all of whom left with smiles on their faces. The students and staff have been hard at work over the last few weeks preparing for Aladdin Trouble by learning lines, rehearing songs, learning the stage directions, creating scenery, props and costumes. The aim is for every child to boost their confidence through the experience of performing, and again this year the quality of the performance was high. We have students who will be appearing in their fourth performance and so we hope we are planting the seed for a life-long interest in the arts. Behind every great school performance are teachers, teaching assistants and support staff who work tirelessly to ensure that the children thrive and do their best, well done to all involved. We still have our Early Years Christmas production to come this term, Year 3 and 4 next term and Year 1 and 2 in the summer term.

This term we have had a number of students who have taken part in the Scouts CCA, teaching our Cubs great skills; we have no doubt that this activity will be as successful in term 2 as we grow to include a Beavers Colony too! The CCA registration for all activities is now open on SchoolsBuddy until 11th December.

Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd November saw the Inaugural Academic Olympiad China taking place at the British International School Guangzhou. Over the course of the two days, our 8 NAIS Pudong representatives battled tirelessly in a range of activities testing their mathematical, geographical, historical and logical knowledge. From naming capital cities to completing chess puzzles the children had to work well as a team and figure out problems even some adults would find tricky. The team spirit, bravery and resilience shown by the children was simply outstanding. They embodied the NAIS values at the core, supporting each other and showing true respect to other teams around them. A fantastic display of academic ability was shown by all. Well done to the team!

As we enter a very busy last two weeks of the term, I wanted to identify some key dates for you to be aware of:
