Laura graduated with a Bachelor of Education from Aberdeen University in 2012. Having gained her QTS in a large open plan school in the North East of Scotland, Laura knew her next step would be to embark on her career as an international teacher. Laura then spent a whirlwind year teaching a year 3 class in Kuwait before jetting off to South America. For the next three years, Laura taught in a private British school working in both Reception and Year 1. Laura also had the pleasure of facilitating the highly successful Junior student council for 2 years.
Living and teaching in an international setting for the majority of her teaching career has helped shape Laura both personally and professional. Laura has become very apt at expecting the unexpected and embracing the unknown in life. Laura joins us in Shanghai after a year spent teaching a year 4 class back home in Scotland. Although sad to leave her family again, Laura is looking forward to moving to China and joining the NAIS family.
Laura has been an avid traveller for as long as she can remember and readily embraces new adventures and challenges. From hiking to base camp of one of the world’s highest active volcanoes, zip lining through the Peruvian jungle, swimming with sharks in Belize or hiking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu, she is always on the lookout for her next Indiana Jones adventure. Having recently completed her PADI diver qualification, Laura is looking forward to testing out her new skills in sunnier climates. In her spare time, Laura enjoys nothing more than curling up with a great crime thriller or the latest Marvel movie.
