Paul graduated from Leeds University in 1985 BSc (Maths) and from Manchester University in 1989 (PhD computational fluid dynamics). Paul and his wife spent three years in Japan where he was working for Komatsu as a research engineer and his wife was teaching English. They returned to the UK in 1992.
After working at Cheltenham College from 1994-2011 Paul decided to travel again and took up a Head of Maths role at a Shanghai International School for six years.
Having sampled the bilingual teaching model (for three years as Head of Department and Director of Studies) he decided that the International IB curriculum is a better educational model and was very pleased when the opportunity to work at such a prestigious school arose.
Paul has worked in Shanghai for 9 years and he really enjoys working and living in such a cosmopolitan (and safe) city. He enjoys traveling and also discovering the history of Shanghai.
Paul has played football for the England vets team for about seven years; which is tough especially in the Shanghai heat! He is an avid chess and snooker player. Paul also studies Mandarin but his progress has not been so rapid but he keeps trying.
