Shelley grew up and has spent the majority of her life in Rochdale, a small town in the north of England. Since qualifying as a teacher, she has taught Design and Technology in two schools in northern England and has taught all disciplines within the Design and Technology curriculum. She loves the daily challenges that teaching brings and how no two days are ever the same. She especially enjoys setting up extra-curricular activities and is always looking for new and creative ways to get students involved in Design Technology.
Shelley doesn’t do things by halves and this is her first time outside of Europe. She felt it was time for a new challenge and time to push herself outside of her comfort zone. She was delighted to secure the position as NAIS but admits that never in her wildest dreams did she think she would ever end up teaching on the other side of the world! Shelley is enjoying living in Shanghai and is looking forward to meeting lots of new people.
Outside of school, Shelley loves animals and was sad to leave her 3 cats behind in the UK. She enjoys long walks in the fresh air, eating out, reading, and hot, sunny holidays. She is looking forward to doing some travelling whilst here in China and hopes to visit Bali and Nepal whilst on this side of the world. Her favourite place in the world is Greece and her ambition is to visit as many of the Greek islands as possible.
