Musical Honours

Mint Lee is a talented musician who, at the age of 16, became one of the youngest Fellows of the Royal School of Music

The piano talents of one of our Year 12 students has been awarded the most prestigious honour – fellowship of the ABRSM.

Mint Lee has passed all the required examinations in May and has thus been accredited "FRSM in Piano Performance" by ABRSM.

According to the ABRSM Examination Centre  in Shanghai,  Mint is the "1st and Youngest Pianist in China" to receive this special honour.  Furthermore, the  ABRSM records indicate that the current number of pianist accredited "FRSM in piano performance"  is less than 100 across the globe.

A unique achievement and one of which his teachers, mentors and peers at the school are extremely proud.

Mint enters Year 13, the final IB year in the coming academic term and the school is anticipating great things from his continued musical education.

“ …thoughtful, well prepared performances of these Chopin Sonatas, from memory and using the acoustics and instrument intelligently.  Mint Lee at the age of fifteen has studied and performed the Chopin Sonatas op 35 and 58 for the ABRSM fellowship examination.”  These concluding remarks by the examiner reflect the outstanding achievement of not only learning and performing these large scale and important works, but also passing the examination and being admitted to the ABRSM fellowship. This is certainly a remarkable achievement by a student of such a young age.

Mint gained 7 IGCSEs at A*/A grade and he is predicted to achieve 42 points in his IB Diploma. He has recently auditioned to study at the Royal School of Music to complete his degree once he graduates from our school. Mint has been an active member of our community playing piano at numerous school functions and we think he is an excellent role model for younger students.
