Secondary comprises Years 7 to 13 and students' learning is based on the English National Curriculum with a strong international influence. Years 10 and 11 are the academically focused International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) years, preparing students for the International Baccalaureate in Years 12 and 13.
Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 follow the English National Curriculum, Key Stage 3 Programme of Study which is broad-based, leading on naturally from students’ learning in Primary. It allows your child to explore a range of subject choices, empowering them to make an informed decision about which subjects they would like to go on to study in the IGCSE years, Years 10 and 11. This decision-making process is done with guidance from our skilled and highly experienced teaching team, and with parent involvement.
In Years 7, 8 and 9, students study a variety of subjects with different teachers. They will be allocated a form tutor who they will see every morning for registration and important notices before moving around to the different classrooms for their lessons. Subjects that students study in Years 7, 8 and 9 include:
- French (optional, students choose one European language)
- German (optional, students choose one European language)
- Spanish (optional, students choose one European language).
In addition, students have Guidance lessons with their form tutor for social and emotional learning. They also attend Secondary School assemblies regularly which celebrate the achievements of our students.
