Little Shop of Horrors: Auditions Open Now!

As we now enter the next phase of our Performing Arts development, thanks to our collaboration with Juilliard; BISS Puxi is now recruiting for one of the most exciting projects we have ever staged!

Little Shop of Horrors tells the story of Seymour, a hopeless florist who finds fame after raising a flesh-eating, blood-sucking plant. This cult classic is often considered one of Broadway's all-time favourite shows, and we are excited to be able to bring the show to BISS Puxi in the winter of 2019.

  • The Secondary production is open to audition from current Year 6 - Year 12 pupils.
  • Year 11 students are permitted to either: attend one of the audition days; arrange a private audition with Mr. Morris, or submit a video audition to Mr. Morris (email
  • Other students who wish to audition should complete the sign-up form by clicking on the link below. Students who cannot make either audition time can make their case to arrange an alternative time, but this will be on case-by-case basis.
  • The auditions dates are EITHER Sunday the 26th of May or Sunday the 2nd of June from 10am to 3pm.

Audition preparation

  • Students should prepare the selected scenes as all characters indicated (ideally from memory). Script can be collected from the Music department / or downloaded from the bulletin.
    • You may be asked to read one character in the style of another - so make sure to research the show!
  • Students should learn the vocal melody (main tune) to the song 'Little Shop of Horrors' - and be prepared to sing with this backing track
  • Students should learn the choreography to the first chorus from 'Little Shop of Horrors' available here.

On the day

  • Students will have the chance to rehearse all three aspects, but also learn additional choreography, vocal harmony, and characterisation.
  • You do not need to memorise anything for the audition (but... it will help you)!
  • The production team will be judging performers in order to cast the show before the summer vacation.

Video auditions

  • Year 11 students who wish to submit a video audition should first email Mr Morris for more details (
  • We understand that you are busy with exams - just send a quick email and then the Production team will work around you!!!

We are looking forward to working on this incredible show!
