If you need us to give any medication to your child during school hours, please bring it to the clinic with the ingredients clearly labelled in English and ask the doctor to write on the prescription the name of the medication (including the ingredients), the dosage to be given and the number of times your child has to take the prescription each day, the duration of the treatment as well as the contact details of the doctor. This is in case your child’s condition requires further explanation or if the nursing team have questions regarding the right way to give the medication they can then contact the doctor directly.
Medication should be in its original packaging. Some hospitals or pharmacies will label the medication box with the prescription information. This is also acceptable as long as the label contains all the requested information.
We are not able to give any medication, even over the counter medicines, to children on an ad hoc basis. This includes fever and pain relief medication, cough and cold medication. The school nurses are not allowed to give these without medical supervision.
