Lisa started teaching German and French at a secondary school in Northamptonshire in September 1999. Very early on in her teaching career she was fortunate enough to be able to take on a pastoral role as Deputy Head of House, Head of House and then Head of Year. In the classroom, Lisa’s strengths lie in her organisational skills and making each step of a lesson clear and connected. Furthermore, she encourages all the students in her lessons to participate and take risks.
The decision to move to Asia was a long time in the planning, and in 2013, Lisa joined BISS with her husband, Andrew Lancaster and their two sons, David and Thomas. Both boys attend BISS and are currently enjoying their studies in Year 10 and Year 5 respectively. As well as teaching in the MFL and EAL departments, Lisa took on a pastoral role as Head of Year, then moved to Head of Key Stage 4, Assistant Headteacher (Pastoral) and then, Deputy Head (Pastoral).
This year, she has taken on a slightly different role which spans across the whole school and has an operational focus. Utlilising her organisational skills and her eye for detail, Lisa is working with the Director of Quality and Inter-School Academics to support the day-to-day running of the school.
As a family, Lisa, Andrew and their boys enjoy spending time exploring Shanghai and experiencing this incredibly exciting part of the world. Their weekends are spent together, whether chilling out in the local area with friends, or exploring a new part of town. They love to travel, try new foods, see new things and as parents, Lisa and Andrew are keen to encourage their boys to become global citizens and to take the opportunities they are given here at BISS Puxi. Lisa truly believes that BISS is everything a school should be and more, and offers incredible opportunities to students, parents and staff.
