Teacher candidates in line to become part of a world-leading schools group

The demand for UK-style education is causing a major boom in the number of British international schools worldwide. According to a 2018 report by the Council of British International Schools (COBIS), up to 230,000 additional teachers will be needed over the next decade to fill vacancies in the British international schools sector.

This demand will lead to incredible opportunities for teachers seeking employment overseas. Each year, it has been estimated that 15,000 teachers leave their homes in the United Kingdom each year to join an international school abroad.

For global schools’ group Nord Anglia Education, candidates can find incredible employment opportunities in the organisation’s 56 premium schools, which operate across 27 different countries.

It’s not only a thrilling opportunity for overseas cultural exploration and career growth, it’s a way to gain valuable personal development experience in a world-class school. The COBIS report found that 81 per cent of new outgoing international school teachers are happy or very happy with their experience overseas.

Each year, exceptional teaching candidates are invited to join Nord Anglia Education’s ‘Outstanding Teachers for Outstanding Schools’ event in London, where they learn first-hand about the group’s unique educational approach as well as its one-of-a-kind professional development opportunities.

The 2019 Outstanding Teachers for Outstanding Schools event in London, which starts tomorrow 21 January and runs throughout the entire week, has drawn thousands of high-quality applicants. Hundreds of finalist candidates will be interviewed by Nord Anglia Education Principals and staff and are invited to attend interactive informational sessions, thus allowing them to get to know the teams they may have the opportunity to work with.

Successful teaching candidates then go on to join a global community of more than 10,000 teachers and support staff across the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. The COBIS report also found that many international school teachers return to the UK to continue their careers after working abroad.

“We strongly believe that great schools depend upon great teaching, and this recruitment event reflects that belief,” Nord Anglia Education chief executive Andrew Fitzmaurice said.

Mr Fitzmaurice will join other senior leaders at the event in London to speak to candidates about what it’s like to work for Nord Anglia Education.

Part of what makes Nord Anglia Education a successful organisation is its ability to recruit and retain the world’s best educators, who are committed to nurturing and inspiring every child. The ability to attract and retain the very best educational talent is crucial to meeting the needs of all Nord Anglia students worldwide.
