We teach all subjects in English to prepare our students for global opportunities. They also learn Portuguese, as an invaluable part of understanding Brazilian culture, and Spanish as another language that will make them fit for success.

At The British College of Brazil, we teach all academic subjects in English.

All students also learn Portuguese two to three times per week. We place students into groups based on their level of proficiency.

Students additionally learn Spanish from Year 7 onwards. We also group students by ability.

Learning approach

We complement our language lessons with a rich programme of activities that enrich students' reading and writing skills, vocabulary, and language use. Students go on educational trips and participate in whole-school events that take place throughout the school year.

We stimulate them with creative tasks that build their language abilities, encouraging them to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students take ownership of their learning, and this approach enhances not only their language use, but also their awareness of cultures.

We put students' best interests at the heart of everything we do at The British College of Brazil. Our teachers will tailor your child’s journey, supporting and challenging them to become a problem solver and critical thinker – so they’ll be fit for success, no matter what the future brings.
