In Secondary School as we come to the end of term one it is important to reflect on what drives us as part of the whole school community, our school vision.
The British College of Brazil is ambitious for all. We firmly believe this and in Secondary with high quality teachers who are predominantly trained in the U.K we have a skilled workforce who spend their most valuable time in front of our pupils delivering engaging and personalised learning opportunities in a safe classroom environment.
Of course education is not just played out in the classroom setting and we are committed to delivering a high quality well rounded education where pupils are instilled with a lifelong love of learning. Well rounded can be interpreted in two ways the first being the holistic nature of IB education where pupils and indeed the whole BCB community are guided by the IB learner profile which has ten attributes including balanced. We also believe that a well balanced education incorporates the experiential elements such as educational visits whether that be for a day or residential. BCB has organised exciting trips this term such as The Global Games which is currently taking place in Orlando, Florida and many other educational trips with many more to come! We are committed to providing relevant and above all safe experiences beyond the BCB classroom walls for our pupils.
Perhaps the biggest success in Secondary this term has been the development of individual pupils on their path to becoming confident ethical leaders who make a positive difference to our community. We have made huge strides with our pupil leadership with the student council in particular at the forefront of improving issues that are pertinent to the community such as working with the Senior Leadership team to look at lunchtime menus whilst the houses have brought a new verve and energy to Secondary School through contributing to events such as Arts Week and organising the forthcoming football tournament.
I am proud to be able to say that we are making great strides in Secondary along the lines of our whole school vision and look forward to making many more!
