End of September, we celebrate European Day of Languages. Our MFL teachers in the Secondary School decided to use this opportunity to celebrate all languages and the linguistic diversity we have here at BIS Abu Dhabi.
In PSME, students discovered all kinds of facts about different languages around the world. In addition to this, some bilingual and trilingual students helped put together a tongue -twister competition. A number of these students along with a few teachers, including the Head of Secondary recorded a tongue-twister in their native tongue to share with the other students. We had tongue twisters in English, Arabic, French, Spanish, German, Hungarian and Mandarin and throughout the Secondary corridors, lots of different languages and lots of laughter could be heard.
Years 7-11 then practised these tongue twisters and were invited to enter the tongue twister competition by uploading a tongue twister in a language that was not their first language. Students were also able to link what they had done during PSME to the BISAD Diploma as well as earning house points.
Well done to all students that took part!
