Meet our exceptional school leaders, take a guided tour expertly led by our Admission team, and discover firsthand what makes us the premier British school in Hanoi.
Our community partner Hy Vong School have been continuing their regular weekly visits with Year 6. Both sets of students have enjoyed working together on science projects, making crazy putty and rainbow water jars.
The week beginning, November 25, saw Ms Catherine and Ms Jasmine lead a session called ‘Funky Phonics’ for the parents of children in the EYC. The aim of the workshop was to make parents more aware of the learning that goes on in our phonics lessons at BIS.
On Wednesday, Ms Naomi Skinner, a Primary teacher from our sister BIS school in Ho Chi Minh City, did a presentation to the Primary students about her 2,200km charity run from Hanoi all the way to Ho Chi Minh City. All the funds raised from the run will go directly to charities that support vulnerable Vietnamese children.
The Friends of BIS parents’ group enjoyed a visit to the Tam Dao Bear Sanctuary on Monday this week. The parents gained a better knowledge and understanding of the sanctuary’s facilities, the Community service programmes that are open to BIS students and, most importantly, the issues surrounding bear bile farming and what Tam Dao are doing to try and stop it.
On Tuesday, we were delighted to welcome Mr Norval - a representative from Wilderness Foundation Africa - to BIS Hanoi. The visitor, with Duc Tuan (Year 12), delivered a presentation to Key Stage 4&5 students about the pleight of rhinos in the wild and the projects being worked on to maintain the population of these incredible animals.
To be involved in a meaningful project, having a real impact on the lives of others is a pledge we are happy to make at the British International School in Hanoi.
Our Primary students are celebrating many achievements in Phuket this week at the Under 11s FOBISIA tournament. Competing against 7 other schools from China, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Malaysia and Ho Chi Minh is providing super challenges for our students.
Cho Won Ho (Jack) from Year 8 and Nguyen Duc Tuan from Year 11 won the Wild Rhino Competition 2018/2019 in the Junior and Senior Categories respectively.
This week, as we head towards the most important holiday in the Vietnamese culture – the Lunar New Year (or Tết), students of BIS Hanoi had a fantastic opportunity to nurture a respectful and caring sense of social responsibility and build friendships with students from Hy Vong School and Xa Dan School.
It was my pleasure to award Nguyen Hoa Thuy Tien (Tina) and Le Hien Chuc An with prizes for co-designing the new BIS Hanoi Lionhearts logo. It was a stunning collaborative effort, which captured the spirit of our school, perfectly.
Phase 3 invited parents, staff and pupils to their exhibition on the second floor this morning. It was a wonderful showcase of all the learning that has been taking place over the last term. There were Musical performances, presentations, puppet shows, art activities to name but a few. Our knowledge of rivers was put to the test with a ‘Rivers loop game’, meanwhile in 5B some students had gone missing and been replaced by Mr. and Mrs. Twit from the Roald Dahls classic, the Twits.
To show our gratitude towards the thrilling experiences that KOTO provided us for the past months, we have decided to operate multiple fundraising events at British International School Hanoi to help KOTO prepare surprise Christmas presents for their trainees, according to the trainees’ wish lists.
