35 US Universities including New York University, Suffolk University, Northwestern in Qatar, Florida Institute of Tech., Universities of Iowa, Florida, Tulsa, Houston and many more participated in the fair.

On September 12, our Friends of BIS parents group went on a tour of the Hanoi Old Quarter to celebrate the Moon Festival. They had a wonderful time strolling through the streets of the Old Quarter and experiencing the Moon Festival like a local. Thanks to the tour, we were able to see many friendships beginning to form within our parents’ community!

Applying for the elusive position to be the Primary School leaders of Hanoi, Saigon, Dalat and Hue - Year 6 articulated their understanding of this leadership role with confidence.

On Friday morning, Trung Tien Tran and Valerie Lua – our Head Boy & Head Girl – made their first speech in front of Secondary students as well as teachers. The whole auditorium was inspired by their speech and we are looking forward to an exciting year ahead with new changes in the Student Leadership structure.

Year 2 had a very exciting morning on Thursday this week when they were surprised with a tea party! The tea party was to help them develop their understanding of the nouns and adjectives used in the story as well as bringing the story to life.

The results are in! After careful consideration, Valerie Lua and Trung Tien Tran (both are in Year 13) have been chosen as our first-ever Head Girl & Head Boy at BIS Hanoi! This year, the structure of the Student Council would change with its members comprising the elected leaders of each Key Stage with the final Council being chaired by a Head Girl and Head Boy.

Our instrumental lessons for the 2019/2020 calendar year with lessons resuming on Monday 9th September. Deadline extended for instrumental lesson sign-ups until Tuesday, September 3rd.

It was wonderful to see so many parents in attendance at our "Meet the Librarian & Meet the Teacher" session last Tuesday. Please don’t worry if you were unable to attend these sessions, we will share the information with you this week via email.

Everyone associated with the British International School Hanoi (BIS Hanoi) is extremely proud that two of our students: Ha Minh and Sung Woo, successfully represented the school at the NAE-UNICEF Student Summit this Summer. The Summit is part of Nord Anglia Education (NAE)’s collaboration with UNICEF, and is hosted annually within the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.

Students at BIS Hanoi, part of the global Nord Anglia Education family of schools, are celebrating after receiving their long-awaited IGCSE results earlier this week.

After winning Wilderness Foundation Africa’s 2018-2019 Wild Rhino Competition, Duc Tuan from Year 12 had the opportunity to go on a trip to South Africa. In July, he took part in a wilderness trail at one of South Africa’s Game Reserves. Since his return, Duc Tuan has been happy to share details of his once-in-a-lifetime experience as well as what he has learnt about rhinos and wildlife protection.

Moving to a new country is never easy. It is a big change with many challenges to face. However, if you find the right community, you will be warmly welcomed and find it much easier to settle in. Mrs Natasha Chapman is a mother of two boys (Year 3 and F3) at BIS Hanoi. Below, she shares what she has learnt since moving to Hanoi and how BIS Hanoi have helped her and her family to integrate. All this is for the benefit of you, the new families joining us this year.

We are incredibly proud to announce that our talented student, Eric Jang (soon to be in Year 6), recently took 1st prize in the 5th Chopin International Piano Competition in Thailand. Following on from that success, he also went on to take 2nd & 3rd place in the Hong Kong International Piano Competition.

Held this year from 11 to 17 July, student ambassadors at the Summit will demonstrate how their schools have made progress in addressing the SDGs as part of Nord Anglia Education’s annual Global Challenge.
