Key Dates | Primary Learning Highlights
Dear Parents,
At BIS, we want to enrich our students learning through experiences because we know making connections deepens their understanding. In addition, we also make learning exciting and use carefully planned hooks in their learning for our students as this excites and inspires them.
This week it was wonderful to wave off our Year 3 students as they set off for their first day trip in a long time. As part of their topic ‘Feel the Force’, 3BISH went to the Ice Rink at Royal City. Slipping and sliding their way around the ice using pushes, they had a lot of fun, and showed great perseverance.
It wasn’t only our students who have been learning this week; parents in Years 3-6 were in classes for a Maths drop-in to learn more about our approaches to teaching and learning in Maths. After spending time in class with their children, Charlotte Beasant, Primary Maths lead, delivered a workshop on the CPA (concrete, pictorial, abstract) approach to teaching maths concepts in the Primary school. Learning by doing and using hands-on practical equipment is not just for our youngest learners but is still important in Key Stage 2 and our parents had some wonderful moments of discovery during the workshop. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend, it was a great turnout.
This week's spotlight on learning comes from Year 6.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Head of Primary

This week, we are delighted to share some highlights from Year 6. Enjoy the video!
As the academic year whirls by, the first term in primary school draws to a close, marking the end of a whirlwind of learning, growth, and new experiences.
As we move towards the end of term, our Primary exit points are always a great celebration of learning that has taken place over previous weeks and months.
At BIS, in addition to the excellent opportunities we are providing in the classroom, we enrich the students experiences and learning by taking them on day trips.
