At BIS Hanoi, we believe that learning a new language is like opening the door to a world full of adventures.

At BIS Hanoi, we believe that learning a new language is like opening the door to a world full of adventures. Our Primary students have the wonderful opportunity to explore French, Spanish and Vietnamese alongside their English lessons. These languages are not just words, they are gateways to discovering new cultures and making connections across the globe.

Discovering new cultures

Imagine exploring French traditions and celebrations while learning about the country’s art and music. Or moving to the rhythm of lively Spanish dances and uncovering the rich histories of Spain and Latin America. With Vietnamese, students not only learn to communicate but also discover the beautiful traditions and customs of Vietnam. Learning these languages invites children to step into new worlds and to appreciate the richness of cultural diversity.

Boosting brain power

Did you know that learning languages can actually sharpen the mind? Research shows that children who learn new languages often develop stronger memory, better problem-solving skills and more creative thinking. These skills support success in many areas of learning, including maths and science.

Building confidence

Speaking a new language is also a fantastic way to build confidence. As students learn to express themselves in French, Spanish or Vietnamese, they grow more comfortable in sharing their ideas and joining conversations. This confidence often extends into other areas of their learning too.

Preparing for a bright future

In today’s connected world, speaking more than one language is a real advantage. It opens doors to new opportunities in school and later in life. Employers value multilingual candidates, and language skills enrich travel experiences, allowing students to connect with people and cultures wherever they go.

Making friends across borders

Language learning is also about building friendships. As students practise their new skills, they discover new ways to connect with classmates. These friendships bridge cultures and create lasting bonds, helping to foster a supportive and inclusive community.

In essence, our language programmes are about much more than speaking. They are about discovering the magic of the world around us. By encouraging our children to embrace French, Spanish and Vietnamese, we help them to grow into curious, confident and compassionate global citizens.
