The BIS Hanoi community came together on Friday for a joyful Mid-Autumn Festival assembly, celebrating one of Vietnam’s most cherished cultural traditions through music, dance and performances from students and parents across the school.

Known as Tết Trung Thu, the Mid-Autumn Festival has been celebrated in Vietnam for generations as a time of togetherness, gratitude and celebration. This year's assembly gave students an opportunity not only to showcase their talents, but also to connect with and share the traditions that make this festival so special.

The celebration began with a vibrant showcase of F2 and F3 students in their traditional Áo dài, followed by a performance named “Vui Trung Thu” by students from Years 2 to 6. Their enthusiasm and energy immediately brought the festive spirit to life, filling the theatre with excitement and smiles.

Year 5 students followed with “Sáng Hơn Cả Ánh Trăng”, a heartwarming performance that captured the warmth, happiness and sense of connection that families and communities experience during Mid-Autumn Festival.

One of the most memorable moments of the morning was “Mời Trầu”, performed by Secondary students. Inspired by the traditional Vietnamese custom of offering betel leaves as a gesture of hospitality and friendship, the performance highlighted the richness of Vietnam’s cultural heritage and the importance of meaningful connections.

Year 11 students delivered a moving rendition of “Mơ Khách Đường Xa”, celebrating the beauty of the Vietnamese countryside while expressing themes of remembrance, friendship and belonging.

A particular highlight of the assembly was “Hello Vietnam”, performed by BIS Hanoi students alongside parents. The collaborative performance was a heartfelt tribute to Vietnam and a wonderful reflection of the strong partnership between families and the school community. Their shared performance received a warm round of applause from the audience.

The assembly concluded with “Lá Ngọc Cành Vàng”, a lively and colourful performance by Secondary students. Inspired by Vietnamese folk traditions, the song celebrated youth, vitality and the enduring beauty of Vietnamese culture.

Throughout the morning, students demonstrated confidence, creativity and a deep appreciation for the traditions of their host country. The assembly was a wonderful reminder of the diverse and inclusive community at BIS Hanoi, where students are encouraged to learn from and celebrate different cultures while developing a strong sense of global citizenship. BIS Hanoi would like to thank all students, parents and staff who contributed to making the event such a special occasion. Their talent, dedication and enthusiasm helped create a memorable celebration that brought the whole school community together.
