A team of BIS HCMC students has made history at the prestigious Conrad Challenge, held recently at the Space Center in Houston, Texas. Competing against over 4,700 teams from more than 50 countries, the BIS team won first place in both of the categories they entered – Best Power Pitch and the Glinsky Expo Award – an unprecedented achievement in the challenge's history.

Our Senior Educators from BIS HCMC joined over 200 international teachers and leaders from Nord Anglia Education schools at the South East Asia, Middle East and India (SEAMEI) Teaching & Learning Conference 2025 in Abu Dhabi, during Term 2. This prestigious event united outstanding minds in education to explore key themes shaping the future of teaching and learning: leadership, resilience, innovation, and inclusion.

At BIS HCMC we embrace and celebrate learning, not just for our children but for everyone within our community. We believe that investing time and commitment towards our own personal and team development helps to promote positive engagement which, in turn, further supports our passion and strengths within our learning environment. To share the great work that has taken place BIS HCMC Primary had our annual ‘Celebration of Learning’ event with all teachers joining together to celebrate the width and breadth of adult learning that has occurred within BIS HCMC this year.

Changes to our curriculum with the introduction of our 2 week timetable have allowed us to introduce an extra skills-based literacy lesson, called reciprocal reading. The small group sessions help students decode texts, delve into the deeper meaning and learn new vocabulary in a student-led setting. Literacy has been shown to have an affect on success across all subject matters and even affect GCSE results across subjects like maths, art and history. 

The academic year 2022/2023 saw BIS embark on a journey to strengthen our values-led culture based on the best available evidence for Professional Learning. At BIS we are a community of lifelong learners, where we share the responsibility for contributing to one another's learning.

After a challenging three years where the global pandemic, Covid-19, caused major disruption to the education of millions of school aged children across the world, The British International School, Ho Chi Minh City brought together staff from across the FOBISIA network to look at strategies to best support those students most affected in our International Schools. Read all about our three outstanding keynote speakers and experts in their fields Shane Leaning, Dr Angie Wigford and Dr Vy Vu MBChB, MRCPsych (UK), MSc, alongside, speech and language therapists, leaders of Learning Support and EAL departments.

Ms Astley joined other Nord Anglia Education teachers from around the world to learn more about the Juilliard Drama Curriculum coming to the British International School, Ho Chi Minh City from August 2018.

Einstein was right about many things, including how to ride a bike – stop moving and you fall off. The same can be said for learning – you can’t stop pedaling.

This week we have been lucky enough to have been visited by Paul Murphy, our Juilliard Curriculum Mentor. This is now Paul’s fifth visit to BIS HCMC where he has met many of our staff and students.

Along with Health and Safety, Child Protection and Safeguarding is the number one priority for our community here at The British International School, Ho Chi Minh City. Ensuring the health and well-being of students, staff and parents is key to a happy and successful school.

Music teachers from BIS HCMC recently attended the 2017 FOBISIA Music Teachers’ Conference as part of their ongoing professional development.
