Our Class of 2025 has set a new benchmark for university destinations at BIS HCMC with an unprecedented growth in the number of BIS HCMC students securing places at the world’s top universities. Well over 50% of our students are joining universities ranked in the QS 100 world rankings. An incredible 34 students, that’s 32%, and almost one in three of our graduating cohort, are attending a QS Top 30 university worldwide. This is a huge leap from last year’s still very impressive 17%.

Our Senior Educators from BIS HCMC joined over 200 international teachers and leaders from Nord Anglia Education schools at the South East Asia, Middle East and India (SEAMEI) Teaching & Learning Conference 2025 in Abu Dhabi, during Term 2. This prestigious event united outstanding minds in education to explore key themes shaping the future of teaching and learning: leadership, resilience, innovation, and inclusion.

We are thrilled that four of our Year 13 students have recently gained offers from ‘Elite’ USA universities.

We are thrilled to announce that a record three students from the BIS HCMC Class of 2025 have received offers from the University of Oxford, ranked number 3 in the world, and the University of Cambridge, ranked number 5 in the world. A huge congratulations to Quynh An, YeongSeo (Judy) and JaeYeon on their extraordinary achievement that sets a new benchmark for BIS students. These achievements come as BIS students begin to secure outstanding offers from top universities around the world, including USA, UK, Australia and Asia and these numbers will only continue to rise as more decisions will be made over the coming weeks.

As our Year 13s and Year 11s begin their study leave and start to prepare for their International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams, we are sure some of our parents might wonder what they can do to help their child through this challenging time, to support their wellbeing and overall success. Luckily our Advice, Support and Counselling (ASC) team has shared 6 top tips for parents to help their child persevere during exam season.

In March, more than 200 international educators from 15 countries around the globe will descend on Hanoi, Vietnam to innovate, problem solve and brainstorm at one of the world’s largest academic conferences.

Following his support at the Ironman branded series of triathlons last weekend in Phu Quoc, 6x Ironman Triathlon World Champion Mark Allen visited BIS HCMC to share his journey and advice on smashing personal goals. Racing in Phu Quoc last weekend in the inaugural Ironman 70.3, Sprint triathlon and Ironkids, were BIS HCMC staff, students and parents. It doesn’t matter whether you are an athlete, an artist or a scholar, Allen’s story is truly inspiring and relevant to us all.

At BIS we celebrate the idea that all minds are different. We know that differences bring challenges, but also add great richness to our community.  The 2nd October marked the start of Neurodiversity Week at BIS, across all campuses.    Neurodiversity embraces the idea that there are many differences in the way people’s brains work, perceive and respond to the world; none are ‘correct’ or ‘incorrect’.

As part of Neurodiversity Week at BIS, we are hosting our first ever community parent forum to discuss Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), one example of neurodivergence. ‘Demystifying Autism Spectrum Disorder” will define and discuss ASD as well as help to dispel myths and misconceptions around this neurological disorder. This event will take place on Thursday 5th October at 11am at BIS HCMC Secondary Campus and is open to our BIS parents as well as all members of our wider community.

You may have heard towards the end of the last academic year that our Secondary students will be switching to a two-week timetable, either at our parent workshop led by Deputy Head of Curriculum and Learning, Mr Lee Falconer, in our weekly update or directly from your child. But what does this mean and why change? How will this benefit learning and the educational experience at BIS HCMC?

Changes to our curriculum with the introduction of our 2 week timetable have allowed us to introduce an extra skills-based literacy lesson, called reciprocal reading. The small group sessions help students decode texts, delve into the deeper meaning and learn new vocabulary in a student-led setting. Literacy has been shown to have an affect on success across all subject matters and even affect GCSE results across subjects like maths, art and history. 

After 13 years at BIS our Whole School Deputy Head Teacher (Enrichment) Ms Lauren Binnington has made a huge mark on BIS HCMC. One of the many long-lasting changes she has seen in her time is the development of our sustainability practices in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In her latest and final blog at #BISHCMC Lauren reflects on how far we have come as a sustainable school, whilst developing a global citizen mindset in each and every student.

Mr Sean O'Neill, our Secondary Headteacher shares his final words of wisdom with our BIS HCMC community after 9 years of dedication to our school. 

In May this year, a team of thirty-four Year 7 and 8 BIS HCMC students participated in a competition which was like no other. A unique experiential learning and social impact experience which took them on a journey of empathy and compassion!

We are delighted to announce that BIS HCMC has retained the British Schools Overseas “Outstanding in Every Category” status following the, Penta International inspection of our school in November 2022.
