Incredible Growth Year on Year

BIS HCMC graduates have long attended leading universities worldwide, but our Class of 2025 is setting a new benchmark. Last year, 17 students progressed to 8 of the world’s top 30 universities. This year, that number has soared to 34 students attending 14 of the top30, a 146% increase.

The same growth is clear within the global top 50 Universities. In 2024, 24% of graduates attended a top 50 university. For the Class of 2025, that figure has risen to 42%. This upward trend shows that BIS HCMC is not only preparing exceptional scholars but is now firmly recognised by the world’s most prestigious institutions.  These universities are King’s College London, The University of Edinburgh, The University of Manchester, Monash University, Seoul National University, University of British Columbia and Yonsei University.

Top 100 and Specialist Institutions

Significantly more than half of our cohort is attending a Top 100 university, including The University of Bristol, The University of Amsterdam, The London School of Economics and Political Science, Korea University, The University of Warwick, The University of Glasgow, The University of Washington, The University of Southampton, Boston University, Osaka University and Durham University.

Beyond academic rankings, many of our students are also heading to world-renowned specialist institutions. In the Arts, these include the University of the Arts London, Pratt Institute, and Parsons School of Design, widely considered three of the top destinations globally for fine art, fashion, graphic design, and architecture. In music, our graduates will be joining Berklee College of Music, often described as the Harvard of contemporary music.

Others are pursuing leading pathways in business and the social sciences, such as ESSEC Business School in France, one of Europe’s top business schools, and Sciences Po, ranked among the world’s best for politics and international relations.

Global Destinations, Endless Opportunities

Our students really are going global! With 28% heading to the USA, 26% to the UK, and 18% to Australia. Beyond these top destinations, others choose Canada (6%), Europe (4%), and leading institutions across Asia, including South Korea (6%) and Hong Kong/Singapore (7%). A few even take a gap year (4%) to explore and grow before starting their next chapter. This global spread reflects not only academic excellence but also the confidence, adaptability, and ambition that define BIS HCMC students.

What Makes Our Graduates Stand Out to the World’s Best

With 29% of our cohort achieving an IBDP score above 40, and most top universities looking for scores of 38 and higher, our students clear the first hurdle with outstanding academic results. But results alone are not what make them remarkable. At BIS HCMC, graduates stand out because they combine academic excellence with leadership, creativity, and a global outlook.

Co-curricular Opportunities

With over 300 co-curricular activities, students have countless opportunities to explore passions in sport, music, theatre, and innovation, which enhance university applications. They are also encouraged to design and lead their own initiatives, helping them build the independence, resilience, and leadership skills that universities value.

Joshua, who will be attending Cornell to study Mathematics, is a great example of this. He reflects, “BIS HCMC has given me endless opportunities to explore and grow in my passion for mathematics. From taking part in the UKMT Maths Challenge to founding co-curricular clubs for both maths and physics, I’ve been able to stretch myself beyond the classroom in ways I never imagined.”

Social Impact
Service learning is central to the BIS HCMC experience. Students drive projects that tackle issues such as sustainability, inequality, and education, shaping them into globally-minded changemakers who make a difference in Vietnam -and beyond. These experiences also demonstrate strength of character and values, qualities that leading universities actively seek in applicants.

 Character and Leadership

At BIS HCMC, students grow through experiences that build not only confidence and resilience, but also the values at the heart of our community—integrity, respect, care, enquiry, perseverance, and reflection. Public speaking, debating, performances, and leadership roles give them the platform to share ideas, challenge assumptions, and thrive in international environments.

The Class of 2025 Head Students exemplify this. Tim represented UNICEF as a student ambassador and took on lead roles in the performing arts, JaeYeon served as House Captain and Subject Ambassador, Serena led the UNCRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child) club, and Atom helped establish the Student Media Team. They are now studying at Oxford, Imperial College London, and leading universities in the US and Japan. Reflecting on his journey, Atom advised younger students: “Persevere through every challenge—resilience will carry you further than you ever imagined.”

Their achievements show how BIS HCMC nurtures confident leaders whose character is shaped by the values that will guide them long after graduation.

University Guidance and Teacher Support

From personalised counselling to interview preparation, our students receive expert support to identify their best-fit university and navigate the admissions process with confidence. Just as importantly, they are guided every step of the way by world-class teachers who know how to stretch and support them as individuals.

Chuong, who will study Biology at UC Berkeley, shared, “The support I’ve received from all my teachers at BIS HCMC, especially my science teachers, Ms Waterhouse and Ms McCosker, has been truly transformational. They’ve nurtured my curiosity and instilled in me a drive to keep asking questions and digging deeper.”

Curricula

A rigorous international curriculum, culminating in the IBDP, equips students with the analytical, collaborative, and critical-thinking skills they need to excel in the world’s most demanding academic environments. Importantly, our students follow a seamless academic pathway from IGCSE to IBDP. The IGCSE provides a strong foundation in subject knowledge and exam preparation, while the IBDP builds on this with enquiry, independence, and breadth.

The wide range of subjects available at both IGCSE and IBDP allows students to personalise their learning from an early stage, while also beginning to specialise in areas aligned with their future ambitions. This flexibility ensures they develop the knowledge and skills most relevant to their chosen university pathways. By the time they graduate, BIS HCMC students are fully prepared to thrive at the world’s top universities.

Create the Future at BIS HCMC

The BIS HCMC Class of 2025 has achieved record-breaking results and set a new standard for what is possible.

These successes are not a coincidence. They are the result of a pathway that blends academic excellence, world-class teaching, co-curricular breadth, social impact, and personalised guidance. Our graduates are not only accepted by the world’s best universities, but they thrive there, equipped with the skills, resilience, and confidence to lead the future.

We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2025. Their offers reflect years of dedication, resilience, and curiosity, and we wish each of them every success in their first year of university.
