It only seems like yesterday that all the children were walking through the school gate on the first day of the year and now we have started term three and there are only 7 weeks left of school!

As well as completing the end of year assessments, a large focus this term is the final International Primary Curriculum (IPC) topic ‘Rainforests’.

During the first few weeks, the children in each class have begun to make a rainforest and will be adding information and animals to them as they learn more about rainforests from around the world. The photos added to this post are examples of how an atlas can be used to develop map reading skills and locate rainforests around the world. As well as developing map skills, the children will be researching and learning how humans can impact our Earth and specifically the rainforest.

This is such an important message for them to understand and it has been a theme for the school year and indeed current affairs around the world. BIS HCMC has a pledge to reduce the waste it uses in school and ensure we act responsibly and remember to care for the environment around us. Year 3 children will develop this understanding further and hopefully begin to spark a passion for taking care of each other and the environment.

Mr Mike Martin, Year 3 Leader
