SISAC Season 3 City Championships

SISAC Season 3 City Championships - SISAC Season 3 City Championships

Our sports teams are rounding up the final SISAC season of the year, with the city championships competing against international schools across Ho Chi Minh City. The championships are a culmination of all they have achieved in their training this year, and we are so proud of their efforts. Many of them will now go on to compete across some of the best schools in Asia, as our U11 FOBISIA team will be off to Thailand next week in swimming, athletics, basketball and football. Read more from our P.E teachers below who have rounded up their final SISAC City championships of this year, in Basketball, Table Tennis and Swimming:

U11 A Boys Basketball City Championships

SISAC Season 3 City Championships - SISAC Season 3 City Championships

We had our City Championships for Pool A last May 21 at SSIS. We swept our elimination round against RISS ( 27- 25) and CIS ( 38 - 12), qualifying us for the Semi-final round. As we battled SSIS for the semis, the game was so close that the score seesawed, with only 1 point lead to either team throughout the match. Unfortunately, we lost by a mere 1 point at the end of regulation time. Our team ended up in 4th place in the tournament. The boys really showed their finesse in the match, showing sportsmanship and abiding by the rules set up by SISAC. It was a job well done by everyone, namely: Matisse, Cooper, Lucas, Archie, Maxi, YiWen, Andrew, Chris and Nigel.

U11 Girls A Basketball

SISAC Season 3 City Championships - SISAC Season 3 City Championships

The girls went to the A pool championships held at ISHCMC this week. The team played against SSIS and RISS in the group stages beating both schools by more than 20 points. As we came to the quarter-finals we faced off against RISS and again the girls dominated after a very shaky start.

In the final, we played a strong ISHCMC team. The girls took their chances well and blocked a great number of shots. They won in the final game 27 to 14 - a great performance.

Captain Miley was also awarded the MVP award for scoring the most number of baskets in the competition.

Head Basketball coach, Coach Mark was very impressed with the girl's performance and attitude at the championship. “They have worked so hard in training and I am delighted to see this hard work pay off”

The BIS U11 Boys B Basketball Team were crowned SISAC Champions on Wednesday following a magnificent series of team performances. Our BIS basketballers trained, trialled and competed at an incredible standard that they set for themselves. The City Championships were the culmination of ten weeks of hard work from the team, who enjoyed an incredible journey together in preparation for the event. The strength of all of the basketball teams this year demonstrates the depth of talent that we have coming through at BIS.

Well done to our table tennis squad who played in both the A and C pool City Champs this week. Winning a number of singles and doubles matches saw the A team finish 3rd in the City overall and the B team finishing 2nd in the C pool. A special congratulations goes to Pratyush for winning the dedication award in the A pool competition.
