BIS HCMC at the BritCham Fun Run 2025: A celebration of community and achievement

A Well-Organised and Inclusive Event

The event was meticulously organised by BritCham, ensuring a seamless experience for all participants. Our new BIS HCMC shirts stood out amongst the crowds adding to the sense of unity, making it easy to identify students, parents, and staff amongst the thousands of people. The support from volunteers and spectators created a positive and motivating atmosphere.

The event was not solely focused on competition but on participation and enjoyment. Many families ran together, with parents encouraging younger children to complete the course, running, walking or even on scooters, while groups of students took on the challenge as a team. Teachers also played a key role in the day, either running alongside students or supporting from the sidelines.

Louise also shared; “The sense of supportive community that this BritCham event brings is key to its success and truly matches the values of BIS HCMC and our own Community.   Inclusive, inspiring, fun, family focussed, fostering a healthy active lifestyle and strengthening community spirit. This is what it’s all about and is why BIS HCMC is thrilled to be a sponsor year after year”

Notable Achievements

While the Fun Run was primarily an opportunity to promote activity and wellbeing, there were also some impressive individual performances. Julian, a Year 7 BIS HCMC student, placed third overall in the Under-13s category, competing against hundreds of young runners. His achievement was a testament to the dedication and perseverance that many participants displayed throughout the event.

Louise, also a Board Member of BritCham, was delighted to be able to present the medals and prizes to the Under 13 podium winners, including our very own runner, Julian.

Beyond the competitive results, there were many personal milestones. For some, it was the first time completing a race of this scale; for others, it was about improving personal fitness or simply enjoying the social aspect of the event. Regardless of individual goals, all participants contributed to an atmosphere of encouragement and collective achievement.

A Reflection of the BIS HCMC Community

The BritCham Fun Run was an embodiment of the BIS HCMC values of teamwork, resilience, and school spirit. The event reinforced the importance of physical activity as a means of building community, promoting wellbeing, and encouraging students to challenge themselves outside the classroom.

After the race, Helen Waterhouse, Head of Science, reflected on her experience, saying, "Really enjoyed today – the best one yet!" Her sentiment was echoed by many, as the combination of perfect weather, excellent organisation, and a strong sense of camaraderie made this year’s event particularly memorable.

Adding to the excitement, the photo booth created a fun and lively atmosphere, allowing participants to capture their best moments and memories. Whether runners were posing before or after the race, the photo booth quickly became a popular stop, offering a chance to celebrate with friends, family, and teammates. It was the perfect way to preserve the joy and energy of the day, making it even more special for everyone involved.

Looking Ahead

As the event concluded, it was clear that the BritCham Fun Run remains a highlight of the school calendar. The enthusiasm and participation from the BIS HCMC community demonstrated the school’s commitment to fostering a culture of engagement beyond academics.
