After receiving a B.A. in psychology from New York University and a M.S. Ed. from Manhattan College, I spent eleven years working in the New York City independent schools on the upper east and upper west side in admissions and communications. During my time in New York I served on the board of trustees for the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY) as the communication chair. My family and I relocated to Chicago, my hometown, in April 2014. I joined the BISC-LP community in April 2015 after a year of consulting for School Choice International.
I have two children attending BISC-LP, Oliver and Luke, who both started in our Early Years program. They literally run into school every day excited for what new experiences each day will hold. We spend a lot of time outdoors, when possible, going on adventures in our neighborhood, around Chicago or just walking our chocolate Lab. We enjoy traveling and visiting our family in the UK. We love entertaining so large dinner parties with lots of friends and family visiting our home is a weekend staple, good food and good conversation!
The passion and care the teachers at our school pour into supporting each child as an individual, ensuring they reach their potential, is an amazing part of the BISC-LP experience and makes me proud to be both part of their team professionally and as a parent in the school.
Year 5 Teacher and Social Impact & Global Campus Leader, Carlie Ennis shares thoughts on empowering children in elementary school to have a voice, and the profound impact it has on their growth and development.
