IBDP Information Session On Tuesday 11 January, our Year 11 students and their parents were invited to attend the IBDP Information Session and Subject Fair. The students have just started to think about their move into the IB Academy next year and we are keen to support them with their option choices. One of the benefits to the students of being given the opportunity to think about next year is to offer them additional motivation in this very challenging next two terms.

The IBDP offers more breadth than most curricula at this level, and it is important that our students and their parents understand the challenges and benefits of this. We were able to explain the philosophy of the IBDP and help our families understand the importance and purpose of the programmes that contribute to the Core – The Extended Essay, CAS and TOK. We also provided guidance on how students might choose the right subjects for them and their future careers.

All of our 25 IB subjects were represented by the Head of Departments and IBDP subject teachers. Our passionate teachers are all keen to communicate the skills and knowledge that their individual subjects will develop and explore. This personalised advice and support will enable the students to make the most informed decisions. Taking time out of their busy schedules, the students were able to consider all of their options and to ask questions that are pertinent to them and their specific circumstances. This event is the first student-focused event in the Transition Programme and is followed by an IBDP Taster Day on Friday 21 January.
